Mission

The mission of the Steppingstone Parent Advocacy Resource Coalition (SPARC) is for parents, administration, faculty, and staff to work together to achieve an optimal educational and developmental experience for Steppingstone students.

A Message from the SPARC Committee Chair

Welcome to Steppingstone School, the Center for Gifted Education. This is an independent day school for young-K through grade 8 gifted students where we believe in honoring excellence, celebrating intelligence, and rewarding creativity.

Our parent group is available to talk to you wherever you are in your educational journey. We invite you to join us by attending an upcoming Open House or guest speaker event. We look forward to meeting you to share our experiences with Steppingstone’s exceptional approach to empowering gifted children in Michigan.

Here are some of the compelling reasons to consider enrolling your children in Steppingstone and becoming a part of our parent community.

  1. The school administration and staff create a welcoming environment for students in which it is “cool” to be smart, to ask multiple questions, and to perform independent research of personal academic topics of interest. Students participate in a variety of hands-on projects and experiments, forming a diverse community of intellectual peers who encourage each other and collaborate effectively in teams.
  2. The teachers partner with parents to support each student’s personal growth with understanding and expertise. They foster continuous intellectual development by using flexible pacing, aligning the speed of instruction to each student’s learning ability. Students who demonstrate mastery of core subjects can advance to the next grade level in their curriculum while maintaining existing friendships with same-age peers.
  3. The school utilizes a challenging STEAM curriculum that provides a solid foundation for success in subsequent years. Student progression is achieved through a combination of problem-solving, critical thinking, and integrated application of key principles. This attention to detail provides a competitive advantage to students, enhancing their ability to excel in high school, college, and beyond.

Steppingstone utilizes a rolling admissions policy designed to address the complex educational needs of gifted students throughout the school year.
